Republican Rep. Eric Cantor Brags About Committing Treason
Now, Eric Cantor (R-VA) will soon be the Majority Leader of the House, and he has joined the ranks of treasonous legislators, and taken it further by breaking a Federal law. Cantor engaged in talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the same day that the U.S. Secretary of State met with Netanyahu, and vowed that he and his GOP colleagues would protect and defend Israeli interests against his own Government; the United States of America.
Bachmann: ‘I Want People…Armed And Dangerous On This Issue’ Of Cap And Trade
Michelle Bachmann told her constituents in Minnesota that she wanted them “armed and dangerous” in case the Federal government tried to enforce laws; no-one questioned her loyalty.
Sharron Angle floated possibility of armed insurrection
Sharron Angle said that people would use “Second Amendment remedies” if the government didn’t follow her crazy vision of America.
Palin to Dr. Laura: “Don’t retreat… reload” after “1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist”
Sarah Palin is joining several other conservatives, including her Fox colleague Michelle Malkin, in coming to the defense of Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Schlessinger has said that she will end her radio show at the end of the year in response to the firestorm that followed her racially charged rant last week.Sarah Palin uses terms like, “don’t retreat, instead reload” as a veiled threat against anti-teabagger sentiments.
AL-02: A call for impeachment and revolution
Just how crazy are tea party candidates? Just imagine … we could have a U.S. Congressman who seems to think impeaching President Obama may not “be enough,” and calls for armed rebellion against the government (although Barber is insisting that “some folks” are just taking this ad “the wrong way”).
GOP Racism Rears Its Ugly Head – Newt Says Obama Is an Anti-Colonial Kenyan Conman
Citing a recent Forbes article by Dinesh D’Souza, former House speaker Newt Gingrich tells National Review Online that President Obama may follow a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” worldview. Gingrich says that D’Souza has made a “stunning insight” into Obama’s behavior — the “most profound insight I have read in the last six years about Barack Obama.” “What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?” Gingrich asks. “That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior.”Wait — are Republicans pro-colonial now?
John Boehner Claims He Never Called President Obama a Socialist
Ruh-roh. John Boehner had better watch it or the Tea Baggers are going to be angry with him. He must think that no one has him either transcribed or recorded for the last year. Think Progress cites one example. Boehner is lying. He has said that what Obama and Democratic leaders are doing is socialism. From his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference a few months ago: Well, the stimulus, the omnibus, the budget — it’s all one big down payment on a new American socialist experiment. … All of these bills seek to replace our economic freedom with the whims and mandates of politicians and bureaucrats.
Rep.Joe Wilson Hurl Insults At Obama
But on Wednesday, the circumstances went way out of control when during his Congressional address he received an untoward greeting: “You lie!”The comment was from Rep. Joe Wilson, who seemed to be quite agitated with Obama’s remark that his health insurance plan would not extend benefits to illegal immigrants. The alleged ranting against the US President echoed throughout the House Chamber.“I have never seen anything like that before. We do not invite the president of the United States to the House of Representatives and hurl insults,” said Rep. Earl Pomeroy in response to Joe Wilson’s derogatory behavior at the House. Sir. John McCain reportedly termed the remark as a “disrespectful” one and called on Wilson to apologize.
Senators Voting Against Middle Class Tax Cuts
The Senate is in session this Saturday morning, although Mitch McConnell – the Senate Minority Leader – had the gall to say that voting on extending tax cuts for all Americans on the first $250,ooo-$1 million in income is a “waste of taxpayer’s money.” As retiring Senator Byron Dorgan just said, the GOP lives in “their own reality.”I popped in yesterday to bring you the names of the 20 Democratic members of the House who voted against extending the tax cuts for everyone on their first $250,000 of income.
The Hatriots Companions and Funders
Tea Party Inc.: The Big Money and Powerful Elites Behind the Right Wing’s Latest Uprising
The Tea Parties are billed as a people’s movement. But they wouldn’t exist without the help of deep-pocketed billionaires. This article was reported in collaboration with The Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute.Win or lose, the Tea Party movement will come away from next week’s elections triumphant, having injected into the Republican Party a group of candidates pledged to the dismantling of government and wed to the religious right.
New Studies Expose GOP Lies about Public Employees
In August, the New Republic, the New York Times and others warned that the 2010 campaign would feature a new Republican bogeyman. The Times announced, “There’s a class war coming to the world of government pensions,” while TNR’s Jonathan Cohn explained the latest GOP hatefest in “Why Public Employees are the New Welfare Queens.” Of course, there’s only one problem with Rush Limbaugh’s claim that public sector employees are “freeloaders” and the charge from Indiana Governor and GOP White House hopeful Mitch Daniels that they are a “new privileged class in America.”
Right-Wing ‘Journalists’ At Secret Koch Meeting Make A Living Defending Unlimited Corporate Political Money
Earlier this week, ThinkProgress revealed documents pertaining to a secret election-planning meeting convened by the right-wing billionaires David and Charles Koch of the $120 billion dollar conglomerate Koch Industries. The Koch Meeting included powerful executives from the health insurance, coal, manufacturing, banking, and pharmaceutical industry, as well as the top lobbyist from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which represents large corporations like AIG and Wal-Mart. One of the most startling revelations about the June 2010 event, as Salon’s Joe Conason noted, was the fact that conservative media stars “Krauthammer, Ponnuru, Barone, Moore and Beck were flown out to Aspen, lodged in luxury accommodations, and presumably paid a handsome honorarium by Koch to entertain and enlighten the would-be saviors of the Republic.”
Exclusive: Chamber Receives At Least $885,000 From Over 80 Foreign Companies In Disclosed Donations Alone
Last week, ThinkProgress published an exclusive story about the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s foreign fundraising operation. We noted the Chamber raises money from foreign-owned businesses for its 501(c)(6) entity, the same account that finances its unprecedented $75 million dollar partisan attack ad campaign. While the Chamber is notoriously secretive, the thrust of our story involved the disclosure of fundraising documents U.S. Chamber staffers had been distributing to solicit foreign (even state-owned) companies to donate directly to the Chamber’s 501(c)(6).
Covert Operations; The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama.
A few weeks after the Lincoln Center gala, the advocacy wing of the Americans for Prosperity Foundation—an organization that David Koch started, in 2004—held a different kind of gathering. Over the July 4th weekend, a summit called Texas Defending the American Dream took place in a chilly hotel ballroom in Austin. Though Koch freely promotes his philanthropic ventures, he did not attend the summit, and his name was not in evidence. And on this occasion the audience was roused not by a dance performance but by a series of speakers denouncing President Barack Obama. Peggy Venable, the organizer of the summit, warned that Administration officials “have a socialist vision for this country.”
REPORT: Fox Newsers rally for GOP in more than 300 instances and in every state
In recent years, at least twenty Fox News personalities have endorsed, raised money, or campaigned for Republican candidates or causes, or against Democratic candidates or causes, in more than 300 instances and in all 50 states.* Republican parties and officials have routinely touted these personalities’ affiliations with Fox News to sell and promote their events.
Fox parent News Corp. donates $1 million to Republican Governors’ Association
Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association (RGA) this year, Bloomberg reported. The company owns Fox News and the New York Post. (You can see the full IRS filing here.) The filings show that the RGA raised $58 million between Jan. 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010. The Democratic Governors Association raised $40 million during the same period.
Fox News Lawyers Up
They’ve hired attorneys at with Skadden, Arps, Meagher, & Flom, LLP, to help them ward off a legal assault from the Democratic Governors Association. Nathan Daschle, executive director of the DGA (and son of Tom Daschle), filed a complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission in September, alleging that Fox News made an illegal in-kind contribution to John Kasich, now governor-elect of Ohio. The issue is obscure, but the DGA’s ostensible complaint centers on Kasich’s August 18th Fox News appearance, during his campaign. The DGA complaint reads, “There is reason to believe that FOX News…violated Ohio election law…when John Kasich appeared on a network program, solicited contributions for his campaign, and FOX News added the graphics ‘John Kasich (R), KasichforOhio.com’.” Neither interviewing a candidate who then proceeds to ask for money, nor displaying his web address on-screen would be illegal. But the DGA believes that the combination of the two constitutes a forbidden in-kind contribution.
Watchdog: Fox News’ free publicity for GOP presidential contenders worth $40M
A liberal advocacy group estimates that five potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates who work for Fox News Channel were on the air nearly 66 hours in the first 10 months of the year. The accounting by Media Matters for America points to the hugely influential — and profitable — position the network is creating as the go-to media outlet for Americans curious to see which Republican will emerge as President Barack Obama’s opponent in his expected re-election run.
The Corporate Lobbyists behind the Tea Parties
Anyone who has watched Fox News of late has seen them talking about the April 15 “tea party” demonstrations, which they take pains to characterize as a spontaneous grassroots uprising against government spending that they are simply “covering.” Neil Cavuto said: We are are going to be in the middle of these protests because at Fox, we do not pick and choose these rallies and protests. We were there for the Million Man March, even though, as I pointed out, it turned out to be well shy of a million men. The Million Man March happened in 1995. Fox News didn’t go on the air until 1996. Why all the effort to distance themselves from the teabaggers? It’s obvious they are integrally involved — Fox has given them millions in free publicity, despite the fact that there’s no evidence of “ratings gold” here. Four of their biggest stars will be appearing at the rallies, Fox Nation will be hosting a “virtual tea party,” Glenn Beck is holding a $500 a plate fundraiser for them and Fox has been officially promoting the entire affair as the FNC Tax Day Tea Parties.
New York Billionaires Behind the Tea Party
The myth of the tea party being a grassroots movement takes another hit, as the New Yorker‘s Jane Mayer looks a the Koch brothers, Charles and David, who fund much of the tea party movement (via Glynnis MacNichol). The Kochs operate oil refineries in Alaska, Texas, and Minnesota, and control some four thousand miles of pipeline. Koch Industries owns Brawny paper towels, Dixie cups, Georgia-Pacific lumber, Stainmaster carpet, and Lycra, among other products. Forbes ranks it as the second-largest private company in the country, after Cargill, and its consistent profitability has made David and Charles Koch—who, years ago, bought out two other brothers—among the richest men in America.
