Possible 2012 GOP Presidential Candidates Bypassing Campaign Fundraising Laws Via PACs

Should we be surprised by this?

USA Today reported recently that 6 Republicans considering a run for president in 2012 — Gov. Haley Barbour (MS), Newt Gingrich, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, and Gov. Tim Pawlenty (MN) — have raised millions of dollars in political action committee accounts “that allow them to get around federal campaign laws that limit presidential fundraising”:

By law, presidential contenders cannot collect money for the race until they establish an exploratory or a presidential fundraising committee. […]

Campaign-finance watchdogs, such as Paul Ryan of the Campaign Legal Center, say the activity skirts the intent of presidential fundraising accounts, which have stricter contribution limits. Individuals can donate up to $10,000 over a two-year election cycle to a federal PAC, but no more than $4,800 to a presidential campaign. … “Contribution limits exist to reduce the threat of corruption,” Ryan said. “These slush funds that potential presidential candidates are setting up violate at the very least the spirit of those … limits.”

A USA Today analysis found that only 10 percent of the PAC funds raised by the 6 potential candidates were spent on federal candidates and committees through Nov. 22. While a Romney spokesperson said the former Massachusetts governor’s PACs “were formed to help elect Republican candidates and promote conservative principles,” they have spent only 14 percent of their funds for those purposes. Moreover, Romney and Barbour “have created fundraising accounts in states that allow their PACs to receive corporate donations. Federal law bars corporations from giving directly to presidential and congressional candidates.”

We can see the hypocrisy all the way from here can’t we?

Sarah Palin finds her niche: Capitalize On the Violence, Anger, Distrust and Fear

Since the passage of the historic health care reform bill last week we’ve seen things in American take a very stark and ugly turn. We’ve witnessed violent protests, heard violence laced rhetoric, lies spewed on every network channel in America. We’ve seen physical confrontations, we’ve seen politicians have offices vandalized, lives threatened and violence directed at our government. And unfortunately we’ve seen political figures, sitting members of Congress, Presidential wannabes and long time pundits do every thing in their power either to either further incite the violence, personally profit from the violence and even seen politicians reveling in the violence.

One such wannabe is Mrs. Sarah Palin herself. Not Governor Palin, but Mrs. Palin. The title of Governor no longer applies since she quit her job 1.5 years into the fours years she was elected to serve her state. Mrs. Palin is all she is now and hopefully all she will be known as.

Mrs. Palin took it upon herself to be the ‘leader of the hate party’ and revels in the role. It is the role she is most comfortable in. In 2008 when Palin was ramping up the rhetoric about a presidential candidate ‘palling around with terrorists’ and ‘not like real Americans’ and ‘someone who sees America as imperfect’ threats against then candidate Barack Obama drastically increased. When the secret service contacted the McCain campaign with a request to tone it down, Senator John McCain attempted to do just that although to little too late. Yet Mrs. Palin reveled in the attention, the nastiness, the meanness, the violence, the anger. She thrives on it. She lives for it. So true to Mrs. Palin’s opportunistic nature she again takes full advantage of the situation. Frustrated, angry, confused, mis-lead, disassociated, desperate people?? Time to amp up the fear, time to get those wallets open, time to justify their hate and give them more to hate.

So first we see this on her Facebook page, Mrs. Palin’s chosen media to communicate with her ‘followers’. The graphic she includes points out the 20 Democrats up for re-election in 2010 that also voted in favor of health care reform. This is Palin’s way of profit for personal gain by exploiting the fear of others. She could care less about these elections or the outcome. What she wants is more money directed to SarahPac, because financial disclosure released so far show she gives about 1% raised to actual candidates while the majority is spent on overhead, consultants, advertising for SarahPac, flights on private jets, hotel fees for her family and friends, meals, clothing, etc. Oh yeah and $1,000 for the National Down Syndrome Association. Way to advocate for those families Sarah.

With the president signing this unwanted and “transformative” government takeover of our health care system today with promises impossible to keep, let’s not get discouraged. Don’t get demoralized. Get organized!

We’re going to reclaim the power of the people from those who disregarded the will of the people. We’re going to fire them and send them back to the private sector, which has been shrinking thanks to their destructive government-growing policies. Maybe when they join the millions of unemployed, they’ll understand why Americans wanted them to focus on job creation and an invigorated private sector. Come November, we’re going to print pink slips for members of Congress as fast as they’ve been printing money.

We’ll aim for these races and many others. This is just the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the nation who will bring common sense to Washington. Please go to sarahpac.com and join me in the fight.
Stand tall, America. Real change is coming!

While it’s easy to see for those informed on all things Palin that this is nothing more than a fund raising opportunity, it must also be said that there are far too many people in this country disturbed enough, angry enough, desperate enough or fed up enough that they might take Mrs. Palin’s graphic as literal.

But not too worry as her old pal Jon McCain tells us no one need apologize for rhetoric like this, no one need tone it down, no one needs to do anything because this is all just harmless politicking. No violence to worry about. Nothing to see here. So much so that McCain reacted to Anne Curry of the Today show much like he did near the end of the campaign when he knew he was on the losing end. Anger, frustration, deflection, talking over her and the like. At one point I really thought he’d call her a name. That was last Thursday.

But by Saturday Mrs. Palin was in Mesa to campaign on behalf of McCain in his desperate attempt to keep his senate seat. One that is now at risk due to his disatrous choice of a Vice Presidentail candidate, the very candidate he’s now using. Although those watching the speech would wonder if Mrs. Palin was really there on behalf of his opponent Mr. Hayward. Don’t have to look very hard or even have the sound on to know that Sarah Palin is THE LAST person John McCain wants to deal with let alone use for help.

So what happened at that McCain rally? You guessed it………………….violence! Kind of feels like October 2008 again huh? Two men who claim to be Libertarian showed up at the rally and called McCain out for his YES vote on the bailout for the banks in September 2008. Both men exercising their right to free speech. This is America after all. Yet when these men spoke out in opposition to a statement made by Mrs. Palin about John McCain’s dedication to his constituents, they were physically assaulted and drug out of the building, thrown in handcuffs, punched and never once informed by anyone just who was throwing the handcuffs on them until after the fact. Originally arrested although no charges filed, but those that assaulted these two men physically……just have a seat and finish listening to the speech.

Sarah wants you to stand up for your rights and freedoms and not let big government getcha, yet when someone questions Mr. McCain’s contribution to big government he’s met with violence. Violence that was celebrated and met with sarcasm from Mrs. Palin. You see Mrs. Palin suffers from a lower Emotion IQ than many of us, although there are many just as emotionally void as Mrs. Palin. She just can’t help herself. Her emotional maturity, ability to apply logic or reason, and inability to accept disappointment were all stunted at a very early age. Hence Mrs. Palin’s Mean Girl behavior. Poor girl just can’t help herself. She is what she is………………………..a mean girl.

Is it safe to assume that Mrs. Palin is clearly amping up the violence and giving it a voice. She is an opportunist in every fashion, whether taking things that don’t belong to her, charging taxpayers to fly her kids all over, not paying taxes on property she never reported, using other people’s hard earned money to fill her own bank account there is very little Mrs. Palin is above doing. Case in point below.

Yesterday Mrs. Palin leaves this lovely gem for her Facebook followers although she attempts to tie it to March Madness, her message comes through loud and clear. You can’t make me stop, nan a nan a boo boo.

From the shot across the bow – the first second’s tip-off – your leaders will be in the enemy’s crosshairs, so you must execute strong defensive tactics. You won’t win only playing defense, so get on offense! The crossfire is intense, so penetrate through enemy territory by bombing through the press, and use your strong weapons – your Big Guns – to drive to the hole. Shoot with accuracy; aim high and remember it takes blood, sweat and tears to win.

Focus on the goal and fight for it. If the gate is closed, go over the fence. If the fence is too high, pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, parachute in. If the other side tries to push back, your attitude should be “go for it.” Get in their faces and argue with them. (Sound familiar?!) Every possession is a battle; you’ll only win the war if you’ve picked your battles wisely. No matter how tough it gets, never retreat, instead RELOAD!
– Sarah Palin

As if what was happening on the weekend of the vote wasn’t violent enough we now have Mrs. Sarah Palin proudly, happily spewing the message far and wide, just don’t forget to stop by her PAC and leave a donation though ok? She’s really trying to help all you anxious, unemployed, angry, frustrated REAL Americans, but first she needs your money.

Need further proof….

Remember the day of the vote when three African American members of Congress claimed they had hate speech hurled at them and people were spitting on them? Remember how we were told that is a lie………………….well video doesn’t lie, nor will two separate videos. Take note of the alternative Nazi flag being carried around. Move along people nothing to fear here.

Their right to free speech? The right to scream racially motivated statements in someone’s face. The right to spit on elected officials in the U.S. Government.

Yet when someone else tries to exercise their right to free speech? Not so welcome then. Kind of like what happened at the John McCain rally in Mesa this weekend. Our voice must be heard. Yours, not allowed.

Oops almost forgot……while all this was going on this weekend the Feds were busy arresting a self-made militia group that intended on wiping out the entire police force in their town.

Nope nothing to denounce here. Move on people. You can a read the entire indictment if you’d like but be warned their plans are not for the faint of heart. The FBI was also busy arresting other militia members in Ohio and Indiana this weekend too.

Nothing to see here right? No one was amping up the rhetoric, no violence directed at anyone. No harm no foul right?

UPDATE: Carolyn Myss asks in her article Are Republican Right Wingers a Threat to Homeland Security:

As for Sarah Palin, our Republican Court Fool, here’s a sweet quote from her: “In Alaska, you know what we do with people like that? We hunt ’em down and shoot ’em between the eyes.” Note that she is busy trying to backtrack on that remark and a few others like, “Don’t retreat, reload”, saying that she was actually referring to “voting ’em out at the polls”. What? Since when is “shoot ’em between the eyes” a slogan for inspiring voting? Is this woman insane or what? Or does she think we are? Or is she coming very close to committing sedition? I remind you that this nation is still at war and inciting acts of violence against the government while the nation is at war borders on sedition. This may not be an anti-war protest in its purest sense but at its core, the ambition to weaken this government is crystal clear.

You can read more about Mrs. Sarah Palin’s teachings from the AIP you can read it straight from one of her teachers. He’s all too happy to take credit for teaching Sarah to be an all around anti-American girl. You betcha!

Palin backed Chryson as he successfully advanced a host of anti-tax, pro-gun initiatives, including one that altered the state Constitution’s language to better facilitate the formation of anti-government militias. She joined in their vendetta against several local officials they disliked, and listened to their advice about hiring. She attempted to name Stoll, a John Birch Society activist known in the Mat-Su Valley as “Black Helicopter Steve,” to an empty Wasilla City Council seat. “Every time I showed up her door was open,” said Chryson. “And that policy continued when she became governor.”

Hickel’s subsequent failure as governor to press for a vote on Alaskan independence rankled Old Joe. With sponsorship from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Vogler was scheduled to present his case for Alaskan secession before the United Nations General Assembly in the late spring of 1993. But before he could, Old Joe’s long, strange political career ended tragically that May when he was murdered by a fellow secessionist.

Chryson and Stoll viewed Palin’s ascendancy as a vehicle for their own political ambitions. “She got support from these guys,” Stein remarked. “I think smart politicians never utter those kind of radical things, but they let other people do it for them. I never recall Sarah saying she supported the militia or taking a public stand like that. But these guys were definitely behind Sarah, thinking she was the more conservative choice.”

“They worked behind the scenes,” said Stein. “I think they had a lot of influence in terms of helping with the back-scatter negative campaigning.”

Indeed, Chryson boasted that he and his allies urged Palin to focus her campaign on slashing character-based attacks. For instance, Chryson advised Palin to paint Stein as a sexist who had told her “to just sit there and look pretty” while she served on Wasilla’s City Council. Though Palin never made this accusation, her 1996 campaign for mayor was the most negative Wasilla residents had ever witnessed.

While Palin played up her total opposition to the sales tax and gun control — the two hobgoblins of the AIP — mailers spread throughout the town portraying her as “the Christian candidate,” a subtle suggestion that Stein, who is Lutheran, might be Jewish. “I watched that campaign unfold, bringing a level of slime our community hadn’t seen until then,” recalled Phil Munger, a local music teacher who counts himself as a close friend of Stein.

When Palin won the election, the men who had once shouted anti-government slogans outside City Hall now had a foothold inside the mayor’s office. Palin attempted to pay back her newfound pals during her first City Council meeting as mayor. In that meeting, on Oct. 14, 1996, she appointed Stoll to one of the City Council’s two newly vacant seats. But Palin was blocked by the single vote of then-Councilman Nick Carney, who had endured countless rancorous confrontations with Stoll and considered him a “violent” influence on local politics. Though Palin considered consulting attorneys about finding another means of placing Stoll on the council, she was ultimately forced to back down and accept a compromise candidate.

When Palin became the Republican vice-presidential nominee, her attendance of the 1994 and 2006 AIP conventions and her husband’s membership in the party (as well as Palin’s videotaped welcome to the AIP’s 2008 convention) generated a minor controversy. Chryson claimed, however, that Sarah and Todd Palin never even played a minor role in his party’s internal affairs. “Sarah’s never been a member of the Alaskan Independence Party,” Chryson insisted. “Todd has, but most of rural Alaska has too. I never saw him at a meeting. They were at one meeting I was at. Sarah said hello, but I didn’t pay attention because I was taking care of business.”

But whether the Palins participated directly in shaping the AIP’s program is less relevant than the extent to which they will implement that program. Chryson and his allies have demonstrated just as much interest in grooming major party candidates as they have in putting forward their own people. At a national convention of secessionist groups in 2007, AIP vice chairman Dexter Clark announced that his party would seek to “infiltrate” the Democratic and Republican parties with candidates sympathetic to its hard-right, secessionist agenda. “You should use that tactic. You should infiltrate,” Clark told his audience of neo-Confederates, theocrats and libertarians. “Whichever party you think in that area you can get something done, get into that party. Even though that party has its problems, right now that is the only avenue.”

Clark pointed to Palin’s political career as the model of a successful infiltration. “There’s a lot of talk of her moving up,” Clark said of Palin. “She was a member [of the AIP] when she was mayor of a small town, that was a nonpartisan job. But to get along and to go along she switched to the Republican Party … She is pretty well sympathetic because of her membership.”

Clark’s assertion that Palin was once a card-carrying AIP member was swiftly discredited by the McCain campaign, which produced records showing she had been a registered Republican since 1988. But then why would Clark make such a statement? Why did he seem confident that Palin was a true-blue AIP activist burrowing within the Republican Party? The most salient answer is that Palin was once so thoroughly embedded with AIP figures like Chryson and Stoll and seemed so enthusiastic about their agenda, Clark may have simply assumed she belonged to his party.

Healthcare Bill Passes Despite GOP Anarchy and Hatriotism

Huffington Post is reporting that the healthcare bill has passed and we have video.

It will certainly cause the GOP to completely lose their minds. I would expect we’ll see some running through the streets screaming and hollering ‘Save yourself, save yourself……healthcare for all is coming…….the government is trying to kill us all’.

Especially after the hysterical, childish, anti-American, treasonous temper tantrums the GOP have engaged in over the last week.

Can you imagine the behind closed doors conversations in the GOP offices over the last few months and weeks?

Alright guys, quiet down, quiet down, we got to come up with a plan to stop that damn Obama and Pelosi. We got to come up with something real good to show them. So here’s what we’ve come up with so far.

We’re going to organize a rally against this healthcare plan, but call it a press conference. We’ll secretly send out memos to the same people who came to those teabag rallies. We’ll tell them what to say, how to dress, what signs to bring, and last but not least that they can hop on the grassroots bus that will bring them to DC.

We have to remember not to let the press find out that the buses will really be provided by Freedom Works and not really a grassroots movements. Right now we got them thinking when they get on that bus that a group of people just like them are the ones providing the buses. Of course we don’t want them knowing that the health care they purchase for is isn’t much different than this healthcare bill. We got to make sure nobody lets that slip. We’ll just get their white behinds up here to DC, tell them it’s a press conference, then stand up here touting as many lies, racist statements and misunderstood historical facts as we can.

We’ll get ’em all worked up, confused, angry and they’ll never know the difference. Then once we’ve got ’em all worked up we remind them it’s their right to be threatening, intimidating and confrontational with Congress and Senate members if need be. We’ll tell them its ok if they threaten members of Congress, it is their god given right, right?

If that won’t work then hell we’ll wait till it’s their turn on the floor. Then when those damn liberal women get their self righteous behinds up there and try to give their point of view on the healthcare issue, we’ll do what’s right, we’ll shout ’em down. Yeah, that’s it, we’ll shout ’em down. We’re the men after all. It’s the right thing to do. Our base and our campaign donors want us to holler and scream and drown them out. They don’t want want to hear them standing there telling everyone what really goes on. Who do these liberal broads think they are anyway and why do they think anyone want to hear what they have to say? We’re here for us damnit, not these stupid voters they don’t know the damn difference anyway. We’ve always been able to confuse the stupid ones with our shouting and lies; we’ll just do the same to these broads.

We do have a couple broads of our one. Not too bright, but one looks real pretty and the other one isn’t so bad either. That pretty one, she’ll do just about anything to keep her name in the press, make some cash and sell some of her books. We hear she has a speech coming in Wisconsin to a bunch of those pro-lifers so we’ll slip her some suggestions and remind her if she doesn’t use some of our words and theories, we’ll eat her alive. She’s a good girl, does as she’s told and carries our message we might throw her a bone, but only till we get this back in our control. Otherwise we’ll remind her what we know about that family of hers.

The other one, well she’s already got the grassroots press conference rally protest thing organized for us and she’s been real good about keeping her name in the press and making those liberals sound as crazy as ever. She might sound crazy too but who cares, we don’t need her anyway. She can be replaced. Better off with a good ‘ol boy in her seat anyway. She was real good with the Americorp stuff though, well till her son joined but the ones we count on voting for us probably weren’t paying attention and don’t know about it anyway. And she has been as good as the pretty one at telling folks how the government wants to kill them by giving them all this damn healthcare. That’s what is most important now. We can not let our base and the hatriots know or understand that this healthcare plan is good for our country.

Either way, both these broads have been great. They get to stir up all the controversy, go after those liberals, while we look like we’re actually doing something to help. We look like we’re on their side, while those two look like they’re getting in the way. Either way people will hear them and wonder. It works about pretty good for us boys. If they end up looking nuts and lose their ass, what do we care? These broads are a dime a dozen. Not a problem sacrificing these broads, who the hell wants chicks invading on our good times anyway? Next thing ya know they’ll think they can hang out on C-Street with us.

We’ll have to find bigger lies and fight even harder against every single bill that comes before us that does anything to improve the lives of Americans. You hear that boys? We must do everything in our power to stop the Obama administration from doing anything that might make their lives better. That would be the end all of end all if they get the chance to see all the things he’s got up his sleeve to make their lives better. We don’t have what it takes fellas and frankly it’s too much work to make their lives better and sure as hell won’t make the good ‘ol boys club or corporate America happy with us boys and we can not, must not let that happen.

Alright boys, I think we’ll call her a night. Now let’s get out there tomorrow and do our best to defeat America. Hooraw!

Yes I would imagine that is exactly how it’s been going. I do believe many more Americans also know that the conversations of the GOP have sounded quite familiar since Obama has taken office, no matter what the subject. We are catching on and those that once called themselves Republican are catching on. Maybe one day the GOP will catch on too.

Until then all that matters is we get the healthcare reform we need and that America keeps moving forward despite the GOP’s best efforts to hold us back. whoops

But, imagine the upcoming conversations……………

“What now boys? I know, let’s hold up any more funding for unemployment benefits, ya know we just let them have some more time, so we’ve got the right to hold it up if they need more.

Yeah, and we can also go after any kind of immigration reform, or education funding, or stuff revolving around those gays. Biggest thing we can tear down is that crazy climate change stuff. Like we’re gonna spend money on something we might not even live to see. What does it matter to us, huh boys?”

Sarah Palin’s Ghostwriter Didn’t Vet Sarah Either

Once again it seems Sarah Palin’s ghostwriter still doesn’t get it.

First, someone should tell this writer that if they are going to convince the general public that this is Palin doing the ‘talking’ if you will, then it should least sound even a wee bit like Sarah. It might be a good idea to actually vet some of Palin’s own thoughts, statements and actions from the past too. Oh I know McCain didn’t vet her, so why should you when all you’re doing is pretending to be her, but you might be a little more convincing if one, you sounded like Sarah and two if Sarah didn’t seem to contradict herself so much. sp_scaryI mean I know we’re used to it by now and that she never says the same thing twice, but really, you’re getting pretty lazy now. So here for a second time in just a months time we have a ghostwriter attempting to make Sarah look smart and informed on the issue of health care using GOP talking points passed off as Sarah’s own thoughts and ideas. Come on!

I was for Death Panels before I was against them. Kind of like the bridge she was for until McCain’s campaign staff told her she was against it.

I mean seriously, we haven’t seen Palin since she walked off the stage and jumped into a waiting SUV at her quitter picnic in Fairbanks. Such a hasty exit she didn’t even stick around and wait for Todd or Trig. Yet we’re supposed to believe that in less than two months time she’s not only learned how to speak properly but now is informed on the issues of health care let alone common sense?

Come on ghostwriter, what do you take us for?
“Mr. Obama” says that everything will be swell, but we know it won’t. Common sense should tell you that anything run by the government won’t work, and that they are not telling you the truth because they always lie.

The only thing remotely ‘Sarah’ in this statement is the lack of respect shown in referring The President of The United States as Mr. Obama. Yet, she who needs no title can’t stop referring to herself (I mean the ghostwriter) as Governor Palin.

I think Mr. or Ms. Ghostwriter underestimates our common sense or the power of the internet and time. I mean really you think anyone buys this

We often hear such overblown promises from Washington. With first principles in mind and with the facts in hand, tell them that this time we’re not buying it.

from the very woman who so desperately wanted to be the next President Vice President of the United States?
