Reviewing 2010 Biggest Lies and Liars

Take a look back at the crazy year we’ve had in 2010. One can only begin to fantasize the lunacy 2011 will bring. Seems though some of 2010’s would be awfully hard to top, but something tells me the insanity will continue.

Some of 2010’s Outrageous Political Lies:

  • “The government is trying to now close the Lincoln Memorial for any kind of large gatherings.” ~ Glenn Beck on Monday, June 28th, 2010 in comments on his radio program
  • “We researched to find out if anybody on Fox News had ever said you’re going to jail if you don’t buy health insurance. Nobody’s ever said it.” ~ Bill O’Reilly on Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 in a segment on the Fox News show The O’Reilly Factor
  • “Since January 2008 the private sector has lost nearly 8 million jobs while local, state and federal governments added 590,000.” ~ Tim Pawlenty on Monday, December 13th, 2010 in an op-ed in the “Wall Street Journal”
  • Those who fail to buy health insurance under “Obamacare” face the threat of jail time. ~ Bob Marshall on Monday, December 13th, 2010 in a news release
  • You must list all your guns on your 2010 tax return. ~ Chain e-mail on Sunday, November 1st, 2009 in an e-mail circulated to many people.
  • “Democrats are poised now to cause this largest tax increase in U.S. history.” ~ Sarah Palin on Sunday, August 1st, 2010 in an interview on “Fox News Sunday”
  • “I never considered myself a maverick.” ~ John McCain on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 in a comment on Newsweek magazine’s Web site
  • People “can’t go fishing anymore because of Obama.” ~ Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 in his talk show
  • The cap-and-trade bill before Congress “prevents you from selling your home without the permission of the EPA administrator.” ~ Chain e-mail on Thursday, October 7th, 2010 in e-mail and blog postings
  • “Social Security, like I told you, is out of money. This year it is borrowing from the general treasury.” ~ Michele Bachmann on Friday, June 11th, 2010
  • “The stimulus has not created one private sector job.” ~ Rick Scott on Friday, September 3rd, 2010 in a meeting with reporters in Tallahassee
  • “Scientists have shown us (that) the greater possibilities, the real science movement, has been with adult stem cell research. It has not been with embryonic.” ~ Scott Walker on Tuesday, October 12th, 2010 in a news conference with reporters

  • And 2010’s Biggest Liars

Sarah Palin: Winner Of The 2010 Glenn Beck Misinformer Of The Year Award
selecting the 2010 winner of the Glenn Beck Honorary Award for Excellence in Misinformation, Media Matters weighed the vigor and meticulous detail the 2009 recipient, Glenn Beck, brought to the craft.

PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year: ‘A government takeover of health care’
Frank Luntz, a consultant famous for his phraseology, urged GOP leaders to call it a “government takeover.” “Takeovers are like coups,” Luntz wrote in a 28-page memo. “They both lead to dictators and a loss of freedom.”

The line stuck. By the time the health care bill was headed toward passage in early 2010, Obama and congressional Democrats had sanded down their program, dropping the “public option” concept that was derided as too much government intrusion. The law passed in March, with new regulations, but no government-run plan.

15 Whoppers Beck Did Not Get Fired For In 2010In 2010, Glenn Beck repeatedly made up facts on Fox News show — a barrage of lies that would force any credible news outlet to fire him. Media Matters counts down 15 of the most notable fibs that Beck told this year on Fox News, culminating with the biggest lie of all.

Dear Joe: Do You Sleep Well?

So yesterday we get the news that the Senate has agreed upon a health care plan that includes the public option but gives individual states the ability to ‘opt-out’ if so desired.

Today we hear good old faithful Joe Lieberman is once again joining the Republicans to keep us down and make sure we have less opportunities than the very jokers making all the decisions for us. These same jokers who rest easy every night knowing that thanks to taxpayers they not only are overpaid but fully insured with nice big pensions and retirement funds waiting for them when they decide they’ve grifted in DC long enough. And as long as they keep working against Americans and instead on behalf of big business they will always have someone to ‘scratch their backs’ and big business will shovel money their way next time they’re up for re-election.

They have nothing to worry about. They sleep well every night while Americans continue to struggle. So if you could write a letter to Joe or your Senator, do you know exactly what you would want to say?

I have compiled my letter than I will send to Joe and every other member voting against us in the health care fight every single day asking them the following questions. Hell, I might be tempted to send it to them every day for the rest of my life or their careers, whichever comes first. Feel free to copy my letter, edit it, add your own and send it to your Senator. Hand write it and make 1000 copies if you need to. Call and leave questions on their voice mail every day. If your Senator refuses to stand up for you then spend your time working to vote them out of office.

You can find the address, phone number and e-mail address of your Senators HERE.

    My Letter to Joe:

    Dear Mr. Lieberman,
    penpaper
Do you sleep well while so many Americans struggle to bear the pain and anguish they are experiencing today?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a hard working student finds out there is no means, no money, no way to college?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a mother and father are struggling to provide the bare necessities for their disabled child?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America an elderly man who fought for his country eats a can of beans for dinner and must dress in several layers of clothing because he can not afford a decent meal or to heat his meager home?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a Mother over-medicates her baby with tylenol for his earache because she can not take him to the urgent care or doctor for treatment?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a family will huddle in the cold behind a dumpster to block the wind because they have nowhere else to go?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a husband and wife lie in bed discussing how to break it to their children that they will soon lose their home and have to move?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in American a couple that saved thousands for a home they will now lose when the bank takes it away?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a father tells his family he has lost his job and they can no longer count on him to take care of them?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a husband tells his wife he’s been out of work so long his unemployment benefits have run out and he still can’t find a job?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a mother tells her children there isn’t anything left in the house to eat?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in American another father wonders how many more days, weeks, months before he will work again and worries how they’ll make it until then?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in American someone has determined it is easier and cheaper for their family if they end their life rather than run up large amounts of medical bills their family can’t pay?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a couple decides which bills to pay and which bills to put aside because there just isn’t enough to pay them all?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a parent is trying to decide whether to pay the heat bill or buy food for their children?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a Mother rocks her child attempting to ease the raging pain of hunger that keeps the child from sleeping?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a young widow lies awake grieving the husband that could be lying beside her if only they could have afforded health insurance?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America someone is deciding to commit a crime because they so desperately need money for rent, heat, medicine or food?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America at least one person will die today from the lack of basic health care coverage?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a person is denied basic health care coverage because a for profit company decides they have a pre-existing condition?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a mother will lose her temper and harm her child because she just can’t bear the difficulties any longer?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a husband will beat his wife in his frustration over losing his job and not being able to find another?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America someone is dying from a disease or condition because they were denied treatment because they have no health insurance?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America a couple is filing bankruptcy because the health care insurance they paid so much money for wouldn’t cover the health care costs?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America someone has decided to take their own life rather than bear the pain of not being able to provide basic needs for their family?

Do you sleep well while somewhere in America, millions of ordinary Americans are coming together to not only demand health care coverage for all are also the same Americans who will work diligently to remove you from your ‘esteemed’ position in Washington?

    What would you ask?

Eric Cantor; The Most Sympathetic Politician

For the first time this summer the Health Care debate, Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) fielded open questions from his constituents on the health reform debate at the Richmond Times-Dispatch “public square” forum yesterday.

One constituent Patricia Churchill shared the story of one of her family member’s current battle with cancer. Churchill told Cantor that her relative has several stomach tumors, yet recently lost her job and her health insurance coverage. Churchill stressed to Cantor that this particular relative needs an operation as soon as possible to save her life.

Cantor who does not support the public option told Churchill that her relative should seek ‘other government options’ or to find a charity that might help with her much needed cancer treatment.

Cantor, who serves as the chief whip for his party, has said that he cannot support a health reform bill with a public option. But despite his political opposition to government insurance programs, Cantor then emphasized to Churchill that every American should be given an “option” for health care, including a government program:

CHURCHILL: I have a very close relative, a woman in her early forties, who did have a wonderful, high-paying job, owns her own home and is a real contributing member of society. She lost her job. Just a couple of weeks ago, she found out that she has tumors in her belly and that she needs an operation. Her doctors told her that they are growing and that she needs to get this operation quickly. She has no insurance. […]

CANTOR: First of all I guess I would ask what the situation is in terms of income eligibility and the existing programs that are out there. Because if we look at the uninsured that are out there right now, there is probably 23, 24% of the uninsured that is already eligible for an existing government program […] Beyond that, I know that there are programs, there are charitable organizations, there are hospitals here who do provide charity care if there’s an instance of indigency and the individual is not eligible for existing programs that there can be some cooperative effort. No one in this country, given who we are, should be sitting without an option to be addressed.

Today, Cantor called for a complete ‘scrapping’ of President Obama’s proposed public option insurance program.

So, Cantor believes no American should be left without an option; it just shouldn’t be a public option. Instead he seems to believe the options should be charities that provide assistance or Medicaid, which obviously not all Americans are eligible to receive. But he doesn’t believe Americans should have a competitive option, just the beggar’s option.

Nice Mr. Cantor, nice. Let’s hope you can find a charity or qualify for Medicaid once your constituents send you packing forcing you to leave behind the nice health insurance package that Americans currently pay for you and your family to have.

Michelle Bachmann is so smart she should be President

So when it comes to the Health Care debate, what is it that keeps costs down?

    Is it less competition?

    Is it less regulation?

How about no regulation? Yeah that’s it.

Why didn’t the President think of this idea?

I never realized just how smart Ms. Bachmann is but boy she’s got it all figured out.

At least that’s how it appeared during the question and answer portion of the Family Research Council conference in Washington, DC.

She told the audience that fewer mandates – or regulations – on insurance companies would result in greater competition.

Because removing fewer mandates would mean:

  • Insurance companies could deny coverage for any “pre-existing condition” – including acne, surviving domestic violence, or cesarean sections.
  • Insurance companies could rescind coverage for policyholders who have always paid their premiums based on ridiculous claims of fraudulent application answers.
  • Insurance company executives would continue to rake in the profits while premiums for every day Americans skyrocket.
  • Really Michelle, this would be better for Americans?

Ferrell and Friends Fighting Public Option

Comedian Will Ferrill is out now with a new PSA regarding the Health care debate and Insurance companies.

Will’s right I say. Why should Americans have a right to quality, affordable health care at the expense of CEO salaries and big bonuses?

Tea Party Organizer Outs Himself on AC360

Anderson Cooper had tea party organizer Mark Williams as a panel member on AC360 on Monday night. Williams denounced those carrying blatantly racist signs against President Obama during the tea parties as “no more part of the mainstream of America than the hippies who wear nipple clips and feather boas in San Francisco streets during so-called peace demonstrations.”

Williams tried his best to act as if this ‘movement’ is nothing more than Americans upset about paying taxes and big government, but Anderson Cooper must have done some research. Maybe it was Anderson’s way of undoing some of the free publicity CNN gave the Teabaggers over last weekend.

Cooper was quick to remind Williams that his own statements and posts on his blog don’t support his statements, “What you’re saying makes sense to me here when I’m hearing what you say but then I read on your blog, you say, you call the President an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief.”

Williams shrugs and responds, “Yeah, that’s the way he’s behaving.”

Cooper asks Williams if he really believes Obama is an Indonesian Muslim and a welfare thug. The tea party leader digs the hole a little deeper: “He’s certainly acting like it. Until he embraces the whole country what else can I conclude.”

Until he embraces the country? What is this guy on? Where has he been? We have a President that is trying every single thing possible to address the poverty, joblessness, excessive corporate greed, lack of decent healthcare, and so on and he doesn’t embrace Americans?

Well, then what do these teabaggers suppose he do to show he really cares about Americans? I know, maybe he could start a bogus war and send all the Children of the Teabag off to war? Maybe he could start spying on our phone calls and reading our mail again? Maybe he could violate the constitution? Maybe he could some CIA agents? Maybe he could take more vacations? Maybe he could tell Americans and Congress he just doesn’t care what they think or how they feel because he’s The Decider. Then maybe, just maybe the teabaggers would feel he’s finally embraced the country?

    Nope no racism here

    Nope no racism here

Mr. Mark Williams must think because he, Dick Armey and Freedom Works Lobbyists have convinced 60,000 racist tools to work against their own best interests while helping the very people who want to destroy their Medicare and Social Security that so many depend on, that he could somehow convince the viewers of AC360 to do the same.
