As if Freshman Rep Lynn Jenkins idiotic comment about finding the ‘Great White Hope’ to run on the GOP ticket against Obama wasn’t stupid and racist enough, she now shows us that she’s not only a biggot but also a heartless shru who finds the struggles of American families something to laugh about.
When Jenkins attempted to host another town hall in her GOP dominated district of Kansas on Monday she might have surprised to find that most attending the town hall meeting in Ottawa advocated a public option. True to the GOP format Jenkins reached a not-so-surprising conclusion….“We’re just going to agree to disagree about the public option,” she said.
One attendee who disagreed with Jenkins, was Elizabeth Smith, a 27-year-old Ottawa waitress who later said her son hasn’t been to a doctor in 21 months, except for emergency room visits for ear infections, because she can’t afford either insurance or a doctor’s visit.
Smith, wanted to know what was wrong with a government-run plan for Americans who are currently uninsured.
Jenkins response to Smith? She’d rather give subsidies to families to allow them to buy private insurance.
When asked directly why she was against a government-run program, Jenkins laughed and said, ”A government-run program is going to subsidize not only yours but everybody in this room. So I’m not sure what we’re talking about here.”
I know Ms. Jenkins claims she had no idea that the statement ‘Great White Hope’ was offensive, of course she didn’t, how could she?
But will she tell us now that she wasn’t aware of the pain and suffering of millions of Americans? Will she tell us it was nervous laughter, maybe predicated by her guilty conscious over the fact that the woman she was laughing at pays to provide Ms. Jenkins with Government sponsored healthcare but cannot pay for health care for her own child?
Oh of course, what was I thinking. I’m sure that Ms. Jenkins feels great pain for this woman’s situation. She has afterall shown us she has a great amount of compassion for the plight of Americans in her recent attempts at finding her footing in the party of NO. Looks like she’s well on her way.
